Our Class of 2025 students and families got a chance to tour the school, see projects presented by students and teachers, hear current 11th grade students perform spoken word poems, and meet the 9th-grade teachers. If you missed the tour, check out this video tour from our HTH Ambassadors. 
11th-grade students on Jesse's team learn to use a Pipette to make minute, liquid measurements for DNA experiments, Growing and measuring plants with independent, dependent, and control variables to understand the effects of various conditions upon mutant and wild versions.
9th grade students on Mike and Brian's team spend some time taking photos outdoors around the school and at the bay.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week was a huge success! Huge thank you to HTH Parent Cindy Borkum for coordinating the plants, notes of appreciation, breakfast goodies, and GrubHub gift cards. Thank you to all of the parents for their donations!

Anti-Asian Hate Crimes Have Been A Hot Topic Lately

As of late anti-Asian American/AAPI hate crimes have reached mainstream media. Recently, news of a shooting in Atlanta, Georgia where 8 people were shot, 6 of which were Asian women, made headlines sparking outrage about Asian-American hate crime. 

There have been various terms for these hate crimes, and one of the most common ones has been "AAPI hate crimes." StopAAPIHate.org defines this term as standing for "Asian American Pacific Islander." NPR.org observes "...3,800 instances of discrimination against Asians in the past year." However, the article believes that this number could be much higher.

Meet our new HTH Community Partner - Dr. Sabrina Falquier Montgrain is a multilingual and multicultural primary care physician in San Diego, specializes in Culinary Medicine and is the founder of Sensations Salud, LLC.  Her focus is awakening the senses around ingredient acquisition and food preparation while empowering people to better health through nutritional knowledge and culinary literacy. 
HTH Senior Mara Juergensen featured in the local news for her work with Reading Legacies to help nursing home grandparents connect with their grandchildren through reading.Congratulations!

Tell us about an HTH teacher you appreciate and why
John Santos because he made learning really special and I always looked forward to his class. He has a really cool mindset and I found myself excited to learn and ask questions. Ive had many great teachers over the years but John Santos really pushed me and my classmates to learn and I will never forget his class :)

Storm Girls Waterpolo played a tough game against Hilltop High School last week. 
 
Goalie and HTH Senior Parker Frost made an incredible save in the game against Rancho Buena Vista on Thursday. Check it out in slow-mo. #gostorm
 
Storm Tennis finished their season by competing in the second round of the CIF team tournament. It was a tough loss to University High that ended the season. Next week, individual CIF and league tournament play.
