This year we are excited to share this special peek into the culture, people and projects that form the stories of HTH. Coming to you in many forms, we begin with pictures below and look forward to sharing often. Enjoy! – Kaleb
Two of our Seniors, Natalie Moller and Emily Margetta, will have their artwork displayed at Mingei International Museums Student Art Exhibition: STUDENT CRAFT is a biennial, juried exhibition of craft work created by San Diego high school students during the 2017-2018 school year. Their handcrafted pop-up books were created this semester as part of our class project and will be on view: May 19, 2018 - Aug 19, 2018

All 10th and 11th graders went to the National College Fair on Thursday, April 19, 2018, created by Chris White (photoed with joy--to the right) on the bus with the students. You can read more about the event here.
Mesa College Orientation Trip - Thirty (30) seniors visited Mesa College orientation this week and interacted with HTH alums Joshua Quiroz (Transferring to SDSU), Joshua Foster, and Tovyia (transferring to UCR) it was a very real conversation about taking ownership in your education and learning how to be an adult in college.

Recently, I was talking with a high school student about his frustrations with a first-year teacher. The student said, "I like [the teacher] because he's understanding, but he doesn't require enough discipline. He tells us to stop talking, but he doesn't really do anything to stop it. Donation from HTH PA for Projects - The HTH Parent Association is pleased to present the HTH teachers with a grant of $8,000 to be divided equally among each grade for use in the 2018/2019 school year. The total for each grade (9/10/11/12) is $2,000. No, we cannot just party with these dollars! There are strings attached. The money must be used for:
- Academically based field work or group exploration
- Special projects that support a learning objective
- Community service project that support a learning objective
Cinco De Mayo at HTH - Join the festivities on May 2nd 3:30pm-5:45pm at HTH. Tacos, raffle, music and more. Proceeds go to help 1st gen tour LA colleges. Check out the flyer!
Parent Association meeting Tuesday May 1st - Everyone is invited to join us to start planning for next year. 8:30am in the conference room.
Teacher Appreciation Week coming up May 9th and 10th. Help teachers appreciate HTH! The Parents Association will host a luncheon for teachers, but we need your help with desserts and snacks. We are asking the following:
Wednesday, May 9 - Desserts 9th and 10th grade families Suggestions include: donuts, cookies, cake, chocolates, etc.
Thursday, May 10 - Snacking from the 11th and 12th grade families Suggestions include: granola bars, nuts, fruits, mixed roads, etc.
Desserts and snacks can be left at the reception with Elizabeth the day before or morning. Please, no perishables, no refrigeration available. Letters, cards and flowers for teachers are always appreciated.
