“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Culture, People, Projects

9th grade Oscar/Mary team heads to the desert for an end of the year camping trip.

At the end of the year, all HTH students present their learning to their parents, peers and teachers. It can take many different forms, but for 9th graders on Mark Aguirre and Sofia Tannenhaus' team like Luana pictured above, they presented a powerpoint in front of a panel. The students addressed what struggles they faced during the year and what they learned from the struggles and from their projects.

10th graders create a plan for building an escape room for Exhibition.

Seniors Julianna Mendes and Eman Abdulkadir were awarded $1,000 each from the Aaron Commerson Memorial Scholarship Fund. Aaron Commerson was a HTH Physics teacher who passed away in 2012.

Host a Chinese student at HTH for 3 weeks or over the summer!

Does your family want to learn Mandarin Chinese? Host a Chinese international student attending High Tech High for three weeks in February 2020 or host over the summer in the area. Practice speaking Chinese and bring the flavor of studying abroad in your home. Forge a global friendship for years ahead.

We are looking for HTH families to host students from Beijing Academy. HTH has hosted students in previous years and they are returning to HTH. Host families/ individuals are asked to provide a nurturing, supportive home with a private or shared bedroom, meals, and transportation. A stipend will be provided.

Take a look at how much money you raised over the past year by shopping with the Benefit Mobile app                            $972.27

Wow! That's amazing! Imagine how much we could raise if we all started using the app. This is FREE money and so easy!

College News

In April, 33 students from the High Tech High network of schools were named HTH Elevate Scholars.  HTH Elevate is a college access initiative in which "FLY" students (First Generation Low Income Youth) are provided resources and support to help them navigate the college research and application process.  This year the Elevate Scholars Conference was hosted on the University of Redlands (Elevate College Partner) campus on June 3rd and 4th.  This is a photo of 6 of the Gary & Jerri-Ann Jacobs HTH students selected as Elevate Scholars from the class of 2020 (from left: Senan Matsumoto, Joshua Tojino, Deborah Segura Morales, Daniela Garcia, Lily Tran, & Alina Morales)
