If we want all of our students to love math, a great place to start might be to ask everyone how they feel about it, and especially how they experienced learning math. Veteran HTH math teacher and San Diego Teacher Residency STEM Program Manager Sarah Strong recently co-authored a book titled Dear Math: Why Kids Hate Math and What Teachers Can Do About It with HTH Alum '21 Gigi Butterfield. Together, they unpack the stories student tell themselves about math, and show how these emotions can lead to deeper learning—and better feeling about math!—for all of us.
The book is available on Amazon
Thank you to our special guests authors and founding HTH staff Jean Kluver and Jeff Robins for joining us for Facetime with Fahima this past week. We talked about Project Based Learning, what makes a good project, and what students learn and remember about projects. We also looked at some of the great projects done over the past 20 years at High Tech High featured in the book "Changing the Subject: 20 Years of Projects from High Tech High . Congratulations to HTH parent Alicia Munoz Sanchez who won a copy of the book!
If you missed this session, you can watch the recording by clicking on the photo above.
Next Facetime with Fahima December 8th at 8:45am in person. Plan to attend we will be reflecting back on the semester and gathering feedback from you.
Wow! So many boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables delivered to HTH from Yasukochi Farms. Thank you for participating in this fundraiser that raised over $400 for HTH and gifting so many items to the staff! Thank you to HTH parent Jennifer Harris for coordinating.

STEP 1: TEST YOUR STUDENT

Students who do NOT have any COVID-19 symptoms and have NOT had a known exposure to someone with COVID-19 should test two times:

  • Test #1: Three (3) days before returning to school or Friday, November 26th

  • Test #2: The day before returning to school or Sunday, November 27th

Watch the video on how to test with InteliSwab: https://inteliswab.com/

STEP 2: SHARE YOUR TEST RESULTS

Any positive tests will still need to be reported to the school site, hthpl-frontdesk@hightechhigh.org AND to the Online Reporting System by following the links below.   Of course, if you are sick (students or staff) they should stay home even if it's not COVID so that we curb that spread.
