Their next competition is on March 23-26 at UCSD
11th grade students presented their findings after studying cases with the California Innocence Project. Students drafted memos and then made a recommendation to the lawyers about whether there was enough evidence to further investigate the case.

In order to support our safe return to school after Holiday/Spring Break, we are asking all families to take the COVID-19 tests provided by HTH prior to returning to campus OR any at-home COVID-19 rapid antigen test that you may already have on hand.

High Tech High schools will continue to follow CDPH, CDC guidance, and the SDCOE COVID-19 Decision Tree (resource in Spanish) in responding to COVID-19 positives and close contacts. NO-COST TESTING SITES BY LOCATION to find a testing site near you.

STEP 1: TEST YOUR STUDENT - Students who do NOT have any COVID-19 symptoms and have NOT had a known exposure to someone with COVID-19 should test two times:

  • Test #1: Three (3) days before returning to school or Saturday, April 8th

  • Test #2: The day before returning to school or Monday, April 10th

STEP 2: SHARE YOUR TEST RESULTS - Any positive tests will still need to be reported to the school site, hthpl-frontdesk@hightechhigh.org AND to the Online Reporting System by following the links below.   Of course, if you are sick (students or staff) they should stay home even if it's not COVID so that we curb that spread.

FROM THE JOURNALISM CLUB

In a System that Failed, They Prevailed Part 2; Adriana Chavarín-López

By HTH Student Journalist Lucia Lopez

Adriana Chavarín was in third grade when she met Ms. Hedgepatt, the first teacher that made an impact by introducing her to a long-time love of art.

Two years later, in fifth grade, she met Ms. Akin, her first role model of a woman receiving a doctoral degree. Throughout Adriana's early academic years, she was blessed with several good teachers who cared about their students and what they taught. This led her to meet her sixth-grade teacher, Mr. Provencio, who would be a part of her life until she graduated with her undergraduate degree.

FAMILY CONNECTIONS
Thank you for your donations for Staff Appreciation Week! In addition to lunch, breakfast and Amazon cards, we would like to give the staff appreciations. Please submit your message of appreciation here. Your message can be for a specific staff member, the whole staff or generic. We will be accepting messages until Sunday April 23rd at 9pm.
Families across San Diego got the golden ticket last week, an invitation to join our HTH family in the fall. We welcomed those families to HTH to tour the school with student ambassadors, talk to students about projects, college, clubs and athletics and meet director Fahima Ahmed.

Educators from Barcelona, Spain visited High Tech High last week!

The college admittances are pouring in for our seniors! And now our Seniors have 39 days until college decision day May 1st. Check out this checklist and great tool to compare financial aid packages from the different universities.

HTH competed in the 2023 OAS (Olympic Archery in Schools) San Diego Conference Championship.  HTH archers did great! In the ranking round for the boys, Axel Mitchell won, Matais Fraser edged out Turin Burdick for fifth by breaking their tie with more bullseyes, and Colby Knightly came 12th. For the girls Cassidy Knightly came 26th in tight competition.

Axel Mitchell was our only archer to progress into the finals and won in a tight match. Congratulations Axel for winning the San Diego Conference!
