COLLEGE NEWS

Here is your last reminder before Winter Break! The FAFSA will be released by December 31st. Completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the most important step you and your student can take to maximize the amount of financial aid offered to help pay for college

(4-yr, 2-yr and vocational colleges); and with the changes to the new application – most notably, a more streamlined, condensed form, it should be a quick and easy step to take!

WHAT STUDENTS CAN DO NOW TO PREPARE:

  • Prior-Prior Year (PPY) Tax Information: The 2024-2025 FAFSA will use 2022 tax information for students and their families to determine eligibility for federal student aid. Families should ensure this information is completed & accessible.

  • All students and parents contributing to the FAFSA will need a FSA ID. (IF PARENTS FILED TAXES SEPARATELY, BOTH PARENTS WILL NEED THEIR OWN FSA ID).  If parents don't already have a FSA ID, go here to create an account.

Your student’s advisor and Humanities teacher will be checking that their students have completed Senior Checklist: Dec. ‘24, which requires your initials to confirm your FSA ID creation. Please ask your student about this, as it is due Mon., Dec. 18th!

Please note: colleges are asking for families to complete the FAFSA  no later than January 31st!!!
