The 12th grade HTH students proudly invite you to their spring Senior Exhibition on May 9, 2019 from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at High Tech High

Senior Exhibition allows 12th grade students to showcase their hard work from this semester. This year's exhibition will feature discussions with students and San Diego scientists about original High Tech stem cell research experiments and current events in science, multimedia storytelling on the theme of happiness, student designed automatas conveying hopes for the future, and objects pivoting on their calculated center of mass.

Parents learned about the 11th grade internship and 12th grade externship programs that are unique to High Tech High during our last Ask Andrew Over Coffee. To watch the entire session, join our parents Facebook group at Friends of High Tech High. Be sure to answer the security questions so we approve you!

Thank you to Poke 123 in Liberty Station for supporting HTH with a restaurant fundraiser. And a big thanks to everyone who ate there! Together we raised $300 for HTH. Woohoo!

Would you like to open up your home to the world by hosting a foreign exchange student?  This year, foreign exchange students from Switzerland, Germany, and Denmark have enriched the experience of our senior teams.  Hosting a student is a great opportunity to introduce your family to another culture and create a lifelong bond.  Students are fluent in English and come for one semester or a school year.  For more information, please email Margaret Egler at megler@hightechhigh.org

College News

Two great college events this past week at HTH. Pictured above, a college fair in the HTH gym. About 50 college reps from around the country participated for this college fair just for High Tech students.

The second event is the College Admissions Case Studies event. This event is only for 11th grade students and is a collaboration with Francis Parker, La Jolla Country Day and The Bishops School. This interactive event includes over 90 college admission representatives talking admission in a small discussion-based format.

Advice from the college counselors:

  • Research the schools you are applying to so in the essay, you can be specific about why you want to go there
  • Do not use the words "I think" or "I believe" in your essays, makes you sound not committed
  • Use the essays to tell admissions about discrepancies in your application
