Today we had over 20 students staying after class to listen to a STEM grad student and professional share about their experiences in a session called "Careers and Closing the Gap in Drones and Robotics". Next STEM Mentor Speaker "Building a Career in Medicine and Nutrition" on 10/6@2:30pm

HTH Parent Association Monthly Meeting

Everyone is welcome to join the monthly meeting. The PA meets the first Tuesday of every month to discuss ways to support HTH teachers, staff, students and parents. 

We hope to see you! 
It's back! Wellness Club for HTH Parents starting Wednesday, Oct 7, 2020. We will meet virtually on Wednesdays @ 3PM for parents and 3:30PM for students. Click on this link to register for each session. 

Join us for a special evening virtual session of Ask Andrew Over Coffee on Thursday, October 8th at 7pm.  HTH Director Andrew Gloag will talk about possible plans to reopen the schools, distance learning, SLC's and answer your questions. Spanish translation will be available. Register in advance for this meeting

College News 

Senior Family College Night was a huge success! So much good information. The recording is posted on SCOIR and you can also watch the recording here. 

The FAFSA went online October 1st and HTH will hold a FAFSA Completion Workshop for families on Saturday, October 17 from 12pm-7pm.  Families will pre-register for a 1-hour time slot (registration link to be emailed next week).   The FAFSA should be completed no later than November 30th, as colleges issue monies on a first come, first serve basis.

Sophomores & Juniors - Dozens of colleges and universities are visiting HTH virtually this year. Students must register for the visits through their SCOIR account. These visits are for students only and a great chance for 1-1 interaction with the admission reps! Here are the ones scheduled for next week include Syracuse University, San Diego State University, Les Roches University, Hawaii Pacific, Carnegie Mellon, Texas Christian, Boston College, Occidental, Dickinson, Pacific Northwest Arts, Oklahoma State and Suffolk. 

Freshmen families -  Here's a link to the College Counseling Department's video of workshops and programs the freshmen will participate in throughout the 2020-21 school year!

SPORTS NEWS

Join us for our October Fitness Challenge!   Let’s get moving!  What's your October fitness goal?  Maybe it’s just getting outside and moving for 15-30 minutes.  Maybe it’s to get stronger.  100 sit-ups a day for 30 days!  More upper body strength?  100 pushups a day/week? Mastering yoga stretches? Run a mile, beat your mile time, or walk 10,000 steps daily?

Please fill out the form to participate.  STORM-TOBER will start October 5.  

Once you register you will receive a confirmation email with details. Let's get moving!!

There are different ways to participate

1. join in on the fun and get involved. 

2. compete with other schools (school vs school)

3. player vs player compete against one another.

4. Teacher competition- live competition from teachers, directors, staff…

AND for the grand finale and to CELEBRATE your moving and grooving goals there will be a Halloween Virtual 5K, THE STORM AHEAD TRICK OR TROT.  Invite family and friends to join the High Tech High community as we enjoy the Halloween Spirit in a new and special way!  Running in your costumes!  That's right, isn't High Tech High great at thinking outside the box?!  Eating candy was so 2019! Take wellness by STORM!

Antonio was confident going into the CIF Qualifiers that would determine if their season would continue. With his Co-Captain by his side, they took a demanding win 7-1, advancing to the next round. Antonio Maldonado, Sophomore at High Tech High, is the Co-Captain of the Storm Tennis Team. Read more....
