So What is Exhibition?
Bring student work into the “real world” to share work with important community members and to foster meaning by putting student work in the position of serving others.

Public presentations of student work—whether as an open house, formal presentations, conferences, or by placing student work among authentic users—drives project-design processes and creates opportunities for authentic dialogical assessment.

EXHIBITION PREP:

Senior Edward Guerra presented his research about"Vivid Dreams" yesterday in preparation for Exhibition. Throughout the semester, students learned about the 11 physiological systems of the human body and choices, habits, and behaviors that contribute to health and wellness.

Great news! The HTH Collaborative is in the process of distributing 40 grocery gift cards to our HTH families who could benefit from some extra help over the holidays.
These cards were funded by the HTH Dollars For Doers campaign. Thank you for your donations!

California rolled out a new opt in app to alert you of potential COVID-19 exposure. The new app — dubbed CA Notify — will send notifications to your cell phone informing you if you have been in close proximity to someone who has tested positive for the virus.

Humans Of San Diego

By: Lucía C. López

This was a project too interesting to pass up! In the weeks prior to Thanksgiving break, our 9th grade team has been working on different kinds of projects revolving around topics we are assigned such as Race Dynamics, World Events, CoronaVirus, LGBTQ+ Rights, etc.
The “Humans Of San Diego” project is a slideshow shared with our team of interviews that every student had with a person in their life about an assigned topic. Some went to their parents and friends who would have more liberal views and others went for a unique take on this project interviewing conservatives in their lives or individuals that had less mainstream ideas. I decided to interview two students on my team who also did this project and see how their interviews went with their human sources and their thoughts on the assignment.

College News

It’s time to start celebrating! Ten of our seniors have already been accepted to college and one has committed! Woohoo!  Still a few more days for our students to apply to the Cal State University system. The Universities extended its priority deadline to December 15th due to Covid related challenges for students.

I met with all the Junior teams, and over the next few months, I will be meeting with all of the students individually in January to talk about college goals. Juniors will need to complete their Junior Year College Survey in SCOIR by Dec. 18th. At the 1on1 session, students will receive a Junior Year Timeline -- a personalized "to-do" list, based on their post-secondary goals.

As always, you can email me anytime at nwyatt@hightechhigh.org

For Juniors:

No PSAT:  take SAT by March for National Merit Eligibility The PSAT will not be administered during the 2020-21 school.  College Board is allowing juniors to use an SAT score as an alternative to taking the PSAT for National Merit consideration. (UC's are test blind through 2024; CSU's not made announcement as of 12/2020)

For 9th-11th Grade        Save the dates!

  • Jan. 20th 2021 - Coastline Case Studies Program for Grade 9-11 Families This is an awesome opportunity to witness a mock admissions committee (of current college admissions representatives) discuss 3 student applications and collectively decide which fictitious students to admit, waitlist, and deny. Students and parents are encouraged to participate. After the event, there is a virtual college fair.
  • Jan. 28: Virtual College Information Night for Grade 9-11 Families, 6pm HTH Village College Counselors will host grade-level college information workshops with families.  Grade 9 families will be via HTHMA; Grade 10 families via HTHI and Grade 11 via HTH.  Zoom links will be provided the week prior to the event.
  • College 411 Workshops will resume in February -- monthly college presentations by college admission representatives.  Be on the lookout for a survey in January to generate topic ideas.
SPORTS NEWS
IMPORTANT SPORTS UPDATE:
Good Afternoon Team,
CIF announced last week that all sports will be moved from Dec 12th to January.  Here is the CIFState release and our CIF San Diego Section release.
Please take a look, let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I'd love to collaborate with you to come up with creative ways to keep our kids moving and engaged.  I know it's been hard for many and seems like it keeps getting harder.

Thanks for all your support and resilience through this crazy time.

We are in this together!

How do I sign up for HTH Athletics?

Please make sure all athletes create or update their athleticclearance.com profile. This is important so coaches can be in contact with their athletes as we begin our seasons.
Not only do all athletes need to be in athletic clearance with all their paperwork filled out and signed, they also need an updated sports physical for the 20-21 school year.  If you want to be a part of HTH Athletics please do these 2 important things as soon as possible.
