HTH HAPPENINGS THIS PAST WEEK!
A 9th grade student meets with their family and teachers for their SLC or student led conference. We hope everyone had a great positive experience this week.

11th grade advisory with Math teacher Shany enjoying a long lunch Friday. What is advisory? Each student has a designated faculty advisor who offers academic, emotional, and social support through the four year high school journey.
HTH students attended the Black College Expo in San Diego. Beautiful and overwhelming short intense crowded and power-packed experience - thank you all for making this happen.  Already can’t wait for next year.  Eager to continue to connect our students and ourselves.

Congratulations to 11th grade HTH student Zamzam Fadhil. She received a full scholarship to study this summer in Morocco and raised enough money through her Gofundme to cover her plane ticket. The HTH Collaborative kicked in the last $50 for the program deposit.
We can't wait to hear all about this adventure!
Thank you to everyone who supported this student!

Thank you to the HTH family community for providing Starbucks gift cards to the entire staff for a little pick me up for SLC week!

Some reactions from the staff:

Michael Shear - "This was perfect for a semi gloomy day. Thank you"

Shany Yeshanov - "No way. Thank you!"

COVID-19 Testing

We are offering FREE antigen testing on the PL campus daily (7:30-9:30), weather and circumstances permitting. All staff and students can test during those hours. Staff and students that registered or were here last school year will have to register again. But once you do that registration and consent is good for the 2021-2022 school year.

STORM BOYS BASKETBALL
STORM Basketball seeded 11 in the tournament beat the 6 seed to advance to the next round of CIF. Check out the video of the end of the game! Last night, they faced off against the 3 seed and it came down to the final shot.
From the coach: What a year! This team overcame adversity the thrown at them from covid pauses to injuries. They had a couple of tough games, but bounced back and opened a lot of eyes. I am so proud of this group of guys. We didn't get what we wanted, but still went out on top.

Senior Night - A night to celebrate the outgoing Seniors in the final home game of the season. Every Senior Night is filled with excitement, ceremonies, loud fans, and one final recognition of all the work the players put in, and the HTH Boys Varsity Basketball Senior Night was no different. On Wednesday, February 9th, Boys Varsity Basketball Seniors Isaiah Han, Nathan Moore, and Team Captain Luke Beesley were celebrated in the HTH Gym in a game against the Crawford Colts. JV Seniors Joey Edwards, Adam Gans, and Sergio Pallares dressed for the Varsity game as well. The night started with a ceremony for all six Seniors. Every Senior walked out with a guest and received a framed jersey and flowers. Right before tip-off, there was a special team intro featuring a light show and electric energy to introduce the starting lineup.
When asked to think back on their memories and experiences on the team, this is what Seniors had to say:

“It just feels like everybody’s family here. We’re more than brothers, we’re just family…I just love all these guys,” said Nathan.

“It’s been so much fun…Every single practice we’re just messing with each other and Coach is right on us, then we’re on the line running, competing with each other. A couple of arguments have broken out and we just got back with each other right after that. These guys, I love them,” said Isaiah.

“It’s been awesome. I came in my Freshman year and I didn’t play much, but it’s all about the experience…I grinded every summer to get where I am. We’ve had a really great team this year…This is probably the best group of kids we’ve had since I got here. Our chemistry is there. We’ve had our ups and downs this year for sure, but it’s all about adversity, and hopefully, we’ll get to hang a banner at the end of the year,” said Luke.
