The Griffin-Aviles team visited the Otay Landfill in their ECO Project (Environmentalism + Chemistry Opportunities), learning about the intricate scientific and environmental procedures and strategies used (methane gases extracted and converted to power 10K homes via SDG&E, contaminated liquids collection, expanded rapid composting via solar-powered oxygen infusion, etc.).
















Semester Azul got underway with a trip to Sunset Cliffs. Semester Azul is a placed based education class of 25 students from 9th-12th grades. Last year, Semester Upstream was the pilot and students studied the Colorado River. Semester Azul will focus on oceans.

We are the Social and Emotional Development Specialists of High Tech High,  here to guide you in the right direction

towards resources, answers, and social and emotional well-being 

S.E.D.S assist with: 



Social awareness: Understand the perspectives of others and empathize with them, including those from diverse backgrounds and cultures.



Relationship skills: Communicate clearly, listen well, cooperate with others, resist inappropriate social pressure, negotiate conflict constructively, and seek and offer help when needed.

A huge thank you to our HTH families! A portion of the Dollars For Doers funds raised in the fall helped to pay to use dance studios during Intersession and for Blood Typing Lab Kits. Stay tuned for other ways that money is going back into the classrooms!

Please plan to join the always fun, HTH ALL School Spruce Up!  It only happens once a year, so mark your calendars and don't miss it!!


  • Come all day, or just for an hour to help teachers clean, organize, fix, paint and beautify their spaces!
  • Students can earn community service hours and extra credit!!  Check with your teachers!
  • Good coffee, breakfast and lunch provided

College News 














Please plan to join us for an 11th grade college information night for students and their families on Wednesday, February 6th at 6pm in the main commons. 


HTH College Counselor Chris White will be talking to students and parents about the college admission process and the details of the Bay Area College Trip.

Sports News 























Boys Basketball and Girls Soccer wrap up their seasons

and say goodbye to their senior players! 






SPRING TRYOUTS ARE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER


Storm Softball- Tryouts on Saturday February 16 at noon, and again on the 19th right after school at 4 o’clock. Both tryouts will be at Robb Field 2525 Bacon St. Bring your cleats bring your bat and bring your a game we’re looking for a great season!


Baseball- Tryouts will begin Feb 4, 6, and 8th at the East Clairemont Athletic Field located at 3451 Mt Acadia Blvd, San Diego, CA 92111


Boys Volleyball- Open gyms are happening right now (see below for times and location)  Tryouts will begin Feb 9 9-11 HTHGym, Feb 11-13 5-7pm. Rosters will be released on Feb 14th!



  • 1/29 HTH SD 6:30-8:30


  • 2/2 - HTH Mesa 9am-11am


Boys and Girls Track and Field Open practice every day at the tree outside of the fishbowl at HTH at 4pm.  Official tryouts will start the week of Feb 5th, 4pm at the HTHField.


Boys and Girls Swimming- Swim starts on Monday, February 4th.  Please be there at 5:30pm for team meeting and stretching.  We will be in the water from 6-8pm every Monday. We will swim Mondays 6-8pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-7pm at the Memorial Pool off the I-5 and National Ave.  It is one exit south of the Coronado Bridge.  Please know we also have dryland practice Wednesdays 4pm at the HTHGym.


Boys Tennis- Tryouts begin Feb 2 at Barnes Tennis Center 10am-12pm. If it rains, tryouts will be rescheduled. 


Boys Golf- Meeting for all golf will be Feb 13th at the HTHI commons at 4pm. This is a mandatory meeting for all golfers.  Please make sure to be at this meeting.

 

Make sure to get your updated physical and register on athleticclearance.com.  ALL forms must be turned in by Feb 1st to tryout for spring sports.

 

ALL athletes looking to participate in HTH Athletics must create a profile on athleticclearance.com and have an updated sports physical for 2018-19.  THIS IS YOUR TICKET TO TRYOUTS. YOU MUST HAVE ALL OF THIS DONE TO PARTICIPATE BY FEB 1ST.

If you are a multi sport athlete, you need to make sure you are on the roster for each sport.  If you did cross country, you also need to be registered and cleared to participate in track and field as well!  Here are the directions.
