About two-thirds of the seniors opted to return to campus for in-person classes this week. It was great to see them and for them to get a chance to see their classmates. The 9th graders will get a chance to return to campus next week. 10th and 11th graders return on April 26th.

Thank you to all of our parent sponsors! Every HTH student will receive an HTH PPE Kit when they come back on campus. The Kits include two KN95 masks, 4 gloves and 10 wipes. But if you would like more kits for family, friends or business, we are asking for a suggested donation of $5 per kit. You can buy them online here or bring cash/check to Marcus.

Questions, email Stephanie at santin@hightechhigh.org

A small pod of juniors came in-person to prepare mutant and wild seeds lab materials for the junior class Marvelous Mutant Mousear Project. For this project, students will design their own experiment investigating genetic modification and the impact of environmental factors on gene expression. This project is made possible with funding from the Dollars For Doers fundraising campaign.
Congratulations to 9th grade students Pearl, Zion and Ally from Mike and Brian's team. Their "Space" theme films were accepted into the YX21: Space as part of a first-ever dual Youth Exhibition! This innovative show at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park is scheduled for May 22, 2021 through February 6, 2022.

Mentorship Pipeline:
Professional & Higher Education Speaker Series for Juniors
With changes to internship opportunities this year, the Palmer Jana team students are having weekly visits from college students and professionals to introduce them to various career opportunities and share academic experiences. For the week of April 6, students met with members of the UCSD Interaxon Club, an educational outreach club that presents on neurology. For the week of April 12, students met with Amanda Mar, a researcher at Oregon Health and Science University's Roach Lab. This is supported through the NextGen STEMS mentorship speaker program run by Kalle Palmer.  If you would like to present to our juniors or be available for meeting with individuals or small groups of students for mentorship, please contact Kalle at kpalmer@hightechhigh.org

We recognize that transportation may be an issue for our Point Loma campus families as students return to campus, so a group of parents has coordinated a carpool survey This is not school-sponsored coordination. But if you are interested in forming a carpool, please fill out this survey and the group will help make those connections.

Thoughts Of Returning To School From Humans

By: HTH Journalist Lucía C. López

The day we return to school is quickly approaching and definitely brings many opinions to the surface. Researching the factors is one thing but taking into consideration the thoughts and personal opinions of those who will be affected is yet another piece of the puzzle. And so, for another Q&A article, I asked a member of the HTH staff along with two students at HTH their thoughts on this upcoming change.

The first Key Club was started in 1925 in     Sacramento,   California. Since then, Key   Clubs around the world have helped their   communities and schools to become better   places. High Tech High’s very own Key Club is no exception to that. In just the pandemic alone, the   HTH Key Club has held canned food drives, care package drives, the “Charities Miles” campaign, the sticker fundraiser, and many more fundraisers benefiting San Diego.
