"Be the one who notices" - Rob Riordan, Founder of High Tech High
Dear HTH Families and students,
I am so excited to see our students back on campus! The building is just bursting with excitement and I look forward to meeting all of our lovely families.
X-block electives will launch in the next two weeks so look for those and we will host a club fair later this month or early October.
As always if you have a question, feel free to reach out to me at ajgloag@hightechhigh.org

HTH PowerSchool Student/ Parent Portal (click here): Please use the web browser on your computer, laptop or mobile device. We will ask you to access the PS portal several times throughout the school year to fill out various forms. It's also a very helpful tool for parents where they can view their student's attendance & grades, send their teachers a message and update contact information. Please don't download/use the PowerSchool app as its features are limited and don't sync correctly.

Negative COVID Test Results

  • Please submit your negative covid test results here
  • Please note: The COVID vaccine isn’t required for students at this time
  • If your student has received both doses of the COVID vaccine please take a picture of their vaccine card and send it to me

Mask Requirements

  • Masks are mandatory for all students and staff at all times inside the buildings.
  • Outdoor Requirements- Currently students and staff are not required to wear masks when eating outside.

Building Access

  • Only HTH students & staff are allowed in the building. Students will have 4 entryways (Main entrance, rear, Side Entrance #1, and Side Entrance #2) to use for the start of the day, lunch, and dismissal. Students will need to use the exits that are closest to their first period to enter the building and exits closest to their last period for dismissal. (HTHSD_21-22 Building Map.pdf )
  • Doors open at 8:30 AM to 8:50 AM - Students will be allowed to enter the building starting at 8:30 AM and must head straight to their first period class. Students who arrive after 8:50 will need to enter through the main entrance and check in with the Site Manager.
  • Doors close at 4:00 PM - Students will be dismissed daily at 3:40 PM. All students must exit the building by 4:00 PM. Once students exit the building they will not be allowed to return. Forgotten items will need to be picked up the following school day.
  • Parents & Visitors- Are allowed in the reception area near the front desk. You must wear a mask prior to entering the building. We thank you in advance for your cooperation & understanding!
  • Tardy Slips- Students who are late to any period must check in with the Site Manager who will hand them a tardy slip. Students will give the slip to their teacher when they arrive to class.

Early Release & HTH Sports Release

  • Those students who need to be dismissed early or have to be released for HTH sports must come to the front desk with the Site Manager to sign out. (Ask for Early Dismissal clipboard)
  • IMPORTANT- Students will only be released if their legal parent/guardian has emailed or called Vanessa Martinez to request the release. If there is no notice then students will be sent back to class until the legal parent/guardian contacts the Site Manager.

Daily Attendance

  • The project-based nature of the HTH programs makes daily attendance required. Significant absences, repeated absences and/or tardiness could lead to academic and disciplinary consequences. Parents are responsible for emailing me with any changes to your student's attendance.
  • VERY IMPORTANT- I will not update student attendance unless a parent contacts me. Students cannot request changes to their attendance.

Closed Campus & Free Lunch Continues

  • LIBERTY STATION IS OFF LIMITS DURING SCHOOL HOURS - NO EXCEPTIONS, microwaves are available at HTH, but no refrigerators.
  • Other HTH schools are OFF LIMITS - NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Students: Please do not enter any of the other HTH schools before or after school. Please wait outside for your friends. :)

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

HTH Dean of Students
Marcus Bell

is a familiar face to all who have roamed the halls of HTH, but did you know Marcus helped “grow” HTH into the place it is now?  In Part I of the Marcus story, we take a journey down memory lane…

Marcus met Larry Rosenstock in Cambridge, Mass. while attending Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, many years before the dream of HTH.  It was a feeder school, which meant about 15 middle schools fed to this one, single public high school serving the area.

ALUMNI EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS

DOLLARS FOR DOERS, Partner In Your Student's Success is off and running!  Because of your generosity, we have already received almost $5,000 to date!  This is great news, but we are still hoping to reach our goal of $10,000.

Most of the monies raised will go directly back into the classroom in the form of teacher grants, but a portion of the donations will be set aside for our new HTH Collaborative to help those families in need within our HTH community and to provide seed money for College 529 Savings Accounts for our students.

If you haven't donated yet, please do!

While our aim is to have 100% participation, we understand that not everyone can give $40 per child or more. Your active participation in this campaign is more important than the amount you give. Please donate what you can and help spread the word to friends and family.  You can make a one-time donation or set up monthly donations online.

COLLEGE NEWS

HTH Families and Students,

Welcome to the 21-22 school year. My name is Nicholle Wyatt and I am the college counselor for High Tech High. I’m excited to work with your students as they develop, work toward, and eventually achieve their postsecondary goals. With the recent change to grade-level advisory,

I am excited to expand our number of college workshops amongst the four grade levels -- all year long.  Grade level college advisory workshops are designed to enrich the students’ educational experience, as well as provide college readiness education and support -- based on where they are at developmentally and academically. As the semester progresses, I will be sharing our comprehensive, 4-year grade level college advising plan with families, as well as encourage parents to activate their SCOIR accounts -- HTH’s web-based college and career planning platform (more information to come).

For questions, feel free to reach out to me at nwyatt@hightechhigh.org

How do I sign up for HTH Athletics?

We need all of our Storm athletes to have been cleared through Athletic Clearance. Please make sure all athletes create or update their athleticclearance.com profile. The school is High Tech SD.

The Storm Booster Club is committed more than ever to help make this year's sports season a memorable and successful experience for all our student-athletes.

Any donation is greatly appreciated.  The average cost per student-athlete is $150-$175.
