HTH HAPPENINGS THIS PAST WEEK!
11th grade Jesse and Margaret's team collaborated with the City and NOAA to collect data for “heat maps” in neighborhoods that were historically redlined. It's part of the Project "Code Red For Humanity" You can read more about it here!

10th grade students in the Lisa-Joe-Genevieve Project 360 team spent the day with Chicano Park as our classroom, and moralists and writers, and Aztec Dance leaders as our teachers.  We were moved by many messages of art as a form of claiming and sharing our stories and heritage with pride, of the community working together, the importance of representation, and of indigenous values of kindness, compassion, and forgiveness.
10th grade Ryan, Molly and Anna team are learning from local Chicano and Mexican community partners who have made a large cultural impact, especially with regards to Chicano Park and Barrio Logan. These included journalist/periodista, Roberto Camacho, Muralist/Artista, Hector Villegas, and author y escritora, Beatrice Zamora.
Our Seniors are hard at work crafting their college essays and filling out applications. The FAFSA opens on October 1st. You can apply for your FAFSA FSA ID now. Easy steps listed below in the College Section.

COVID-19 Testing

We are offering FREE antigen testing on most campuses on Mondays/Tuesdays/Thursdays (7:30-9:30).  All staff and students can test during those hours. Staff and students that registered or were here last school year will have to register again.
But once you do that registration and consent is good for the 2021-2022 school year.  Please register on the Primary Health website.
Registration Landing Page  - https://my.primary.health/l/HighTechHigh

Required for testing:  Students that are on modified quarantine or participating in indoor sports can use our onsite antigen tests, as well as staff that are unvaccinated.  If a student or staff member has COVID symptoms, they must go home and return with a PCR test through a County site, pharmacy or physician.

Any student or staff that just wanted to test preventatively may do so on campus.

Part II

In the early days, High Tech High, even after it opened to students, was inside an active military Naval Training Center (NTC).  The entrance closest to the school

was at Roosevelt and Rosecrans where you had to check in at the manned guard station (the booth is still there).  All the surrounding buildings near HTH were empty and waiting on development.  One of the agreements to allow a school on the property was to build a chain link fence around the building which was padlocked when school was not in session.

Also now is a great time for seniors to create a FSA ID so you can register for the FAFSA when it opens on October 1st. The FAFSA is the first step in qualifying for financial aid for college.

STORM GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
The Varsity team played in the Sweetwater Tournament Friday & Sat and placed 3rd in the Silver Bracket. Girls played amazing battling every match and having fun on the court but just fell short of winning the whole thing giving them a reason to come back next year and win the whole tournament. This was their first tournament this season.

STORM GIRLS BASKETBALL

Character. Teamwork. Determination.

Three simple words are the backbone of any successful sports program and will form the foundation for our team this season. With just two months before the season begins, players should be working on their dribbling skills, footwork, shooting, and conditioning. I can’t wait to see what our girls’ basketball team can do this season. If you’d like to be part of the team, please contact Coach Ali Breidenstein at alisonanne44@gmail.com

Remember to bring your mask to tryouts!
We are following CDC guidelines so all athletes will need to wear masks.
