"You've also given me a ton of information to help me apply to Berkeley. You also reminded me how important self-love is, so I really appreciate you sharing" - 10th grade HTH student
Good time had by all at Prom 2021! The event was held on the Hornblower Yacht on San Diego Bay. Thank you to Marcus for coordinating this awesome event and to the teachers/staff for chaperoning. #hthpride

9th grade students exhibited their "Boxing our Quarantine" Project which included a hand-crafted wood box and several artifacts that represented their experience through the pandemic. The artifacts were: a written letter and poem, a metal medallion, a quarantine graph made into jewelry, and three chosen objects from home. This project included Humanities, Physics and Math for students to deepen their understanding of the content through their time in quarantine.
9th-grade students on Brian and Mike's team took telescopes and cameras to Mount Laguna to study the galaxy, stars, and the Milky Way and try some Astrophotography. Fun!

10th graders in the Contracorriente Project (Evans-Griffin-Chin) met with guest speakers, exploring their journeys and advice as students consider their future opportunities and possibilities.

Reaction from the students:
To HTH Alum Charlotte Durst: I thought that it was amazing getting to hear your passion and love for animals. you've also helped me realize that it's okay to take time to figure out what you want to do and that you don't have to rush into anything,

To Crime Analyst Kim Kirkpatrick: The fact that you didn't reach your current career until relatively
late in your life stood out to me. I like that because it points to the idea that you can always change what you want to do.
We are very excited to announce the completion of the 2021 Virtual Talent Show video. Thank you to the students and alumni who volunteered to share their amazing talents with us, and a special thank you to the amazing teacher and honorary MC, Jordan Sipes. Enjoy!

Will People Still Be Wearing Masks After June 15th?

By HTH Journalist Lucía C. López

News is spreading rapidly of the changes June 15th will bring to California. As of right now, mask restrictions and social distancing rules will be almost wholly lifted for fully vaccinated individuals in California. An article from ABCNews7.com states that as long as "...you are fully vaccinated with the Moderna, Pfizer or Johnson & Johnson vaccines, you are not required to wear a mask in public." This new development in the world's Covid journey is exciting, but will it be a good chance in the long run or raise the death toll again?

High Tech High Hops On Esport Trend

By: Storm Sports Journalist Jack Brooks

Sergio Pallares, a Sophomore on the team, talks about the community the team has built. “My favorite thing about being a part of the HTH Esports team is that I get to meet new people that share similar interests with me and make new friends.”

Esports Gaming (electronic sports) has been wildly frowned upon by people over the years. However, a new age of what it means to become a professional gamer has risen in today’s society. Now, Esport tournaments are being played across the globe and competitors are winning real money. And now High Tech High is hopping on that trend with the recent launch of the new Storm Esports Team by 12th grade HTH Math Teacher Wayne Ross.

Be on a university campus and have my drivers license & have my own car.
What is your advice for the incoming 9th grade HTH students?
Traditionally, everyone does horrible in Freshman year. You are transitioning to a major part of your lives. But have courage, do you best and don't be easy. As well, keep an open mind.
What will you miss most about HTH
The way the HTH learning system is set to be. Not traditional, but relays on the responsibility of the students. This school did prepare for me for collage and adulthood. Unlike what I've heard from other friends in traditional schools.

Semester Upstream was my first amazing experience at HTH where I was able to explore one of my greatest passions, photography.
